Reproductive Genomics

Overview:

GenQA has extensive experience in providing EQAs across reproductive genomic medicine which recognises the different approaches taken by laboratories. Therefore the EQAs are designed to be suitable for cytogenomic and/or molecular genetic testing, testing different sample types (e.g. amniotic fluid, CVS, DNA, plasma and the analysis of images) by variable methodologies (karyotyping, FISH, array, NGS and QF-PCR).

The EQAs provided cover different aspects of testing with a variety of clinical case scenarios such as abnormal ultrasound referrals, requests for non-invasive prenatal testing, rapid prenatal testing, fetal trio exome sequencing, reproductive carrier screening, the detection of maternal cell contamination and testing of pregnancy loss samples.

In addition, prenatal CNV classification EQAs are provided to further support laboratories.

These EQAs are supported by our suite of Variant Classification and Nomenclature EQAs for ISCN and CNV / SNV classification and/or interpretation. Please also see the Individual Competency Assessment page for details about GENie, the specialist genomic education and assessment tool for individual competency, which includes modules for Variant Classification and Nomenclature.

Summary information:

Assess various clinical pathways associated with reproductive genomics, using different sample types.

  • EQAs delivered in accordance with the international standard ISO 17043 for proficiency testing providers.
  • Any standard laboratory analysis methods
  • 4-8 weeks to test samples and submit results
  • Submitted results are assessed by an expert scientific panel.
  • Each participant receives an Individual Laboratory Report (ILR) and EQA summary report detailing general findings, a summary of methodologies used, common errors and benchmarking against other laboratories worldwide.
