Viral Sequencing

Overview:

GenQA offer an EQA for SARS-CoV-2 viral genome sequencing in collaboration with UK NEQAS for Microbiology.

Participants perform sequencing using any platform or technology and submit standard sequencing files (FASTA, VCF, FASTQ, BAM) from their analysed data.

Multiple sample distributions are provided per year and participants receive a summary spreadsheet detailing all true positive, false positive and false negative variant calls, gaps present in the submitted sequence, and an assessment of data quality if appropriate file types are provided.

Summary Information:

Assess the accuracy of SARS-CoV-2 sequencing.

  • Variety of viral variants / lineages provided.
  • Four sample distributions per annum.
  • Use any platform or technology.
  • 6 weeks to submit results.
  • Quality data will be assessed where suitable results files are provided.
  • For each distribution, participants receive an Individual Laboratory Report (ILR) and EQA summary report detailing general findings, a summary of methodologies used, common errors and benchmarking against other laboratories worldwide.
  • A collaborative EQA run jointly by GenQA and UK NEQAS for Microbiology.

SARS-CoV-2 sequencing (pilot) - round 1 (SCOV)
